This talk is titled “Rooted Futures” — because we’re not just trying to fix farming; we’re building prototypes for survival. Systems that will matter not just in 2025, but in 2040, in 2100 — and especially in places like rural Bengal, Delhi rooftops, or the upper Himalayan valleys.
Imagine feeding 1,000+ people per acre…
Cooling 500 square feet with just 50 watts…
Storing 1 kWh without batteries — but with water and gravity.
Now imagine doing that without lithium, compressors, or diesel.
And imagine doing that on a roof in Delhi, or a hill in Pangi, or a homestead in Bengal.
India’s enthalpy burden — a combination of rising temperatures and humidity — is climbing rapidly.
65% of water is used in agriculture.
Cooling demand is expected to triple by 2040.
Conventional Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) is expensive, energy-hungry, and often irrelevant to non-premium markets.
CEA without efficiency is unsustainable.
At ElecSys Lab, our goal is to turn CEA into a scalable survival toolkit — not just for farms, but for communities.
We’re deploying:
Smart Canopy Interfaces: auto-tracking grow lights with built-in UVB, airflow, and microclimate sensing
Dynamic Nutrient Control: EC/pH/temp logic with dosing systems tied to crop presets
Low-Power Cooling Systems: psychrometric cooling + water tank energy storage — no compressor needed
Modular, real-time control systems built on FreeRTOS, Modbus, and MQTT.
Local fabrication: all our core systems can be built in India for ₹5–20 lakhs capex.
ROI in under 18 months, with energy savings up to 80%, water use down 90%.
Already in use: from Lincoln University trials in NZ to Chuchura and Bansberia test sites in India.

Climate-controlled greenhouses + guest stays (Airbnb, retreat)
Local youth-led franchise units for installation and servicing
Cooling technologies integrated with food processing hubs
